Quality of Life

We are always looking for ways to improve the quality of care we provide all our residents. We are constantly searching for innovative ideas and services, inside and outside our staff. Our resident council provides those who live here with direct input into the way things are done. We are glad to answer questions and are always open to suggestions for improvement.

Games and structured recreational activities are available 7 days per week and are led by a trained activities director. We have a number of events that involve residents in outdoor activities, include offsite trips. Some of the ladies who reside with us participate in our annual “Ms. HNRC” pageant. Those who like music might choose to join our hand bell choir. We go to the fair, the movies, on fishing trips, and on other exciting expeditions. There is never a charge to participate in these events.

Meals are very important to our residents. The nutritional value of the food is important. However, equally important are the social experiences that accompany dining. We take pride in our restaurant quality dining areas, including a themed jukebox room where the music of the years gone by can be heard. Each wing of the facility has small dining and gathering areas where residents can eat and visit with their neighbors. While we always have to keep in mind the special dietary needs of some of our residents, most of our meals are like the home cooked meals our residents used to make for themselves and their families. Thanks to our award-winning person-centered dining program, you’ll find a wide range of meats and vegetables, served fresh and hot. Each week our residents select from a menu what they would like to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
